Larry Porter analysis

Larry Porter obtained copies of Japanese and American air traffic control recordings as well as Soviet interceptor conversations with their ground controllers. Lawrence Porter had previously worked as an Air traffic controller. I believe that this analysis was funded by David Pearson for his research for his book: “KAL007, The Coverup. Why the true story has never been told”.

I obtained this copy from Cees Weibes publicly accessible files at the University of Amsterdam.

The full analysis can be downloaded below. It essentially speaks for itself. For those with limited time, the summary of findings starting on page 26 will give a good overview.

An extract of his analysis was published in Scientific American Aug 1988 edition which can be found here. https://www.scientificamerican.com/issue/sa/1988/08-01/ At the time of writing this article can be obtained for $1. However, it is just a condensed article based on the above.

In very brief summary the analysis of the Anchorage tape revealed the following:-
14: 34:01 OKAY, YOU GUYS GOT SOMEONE BUMPING INTO THE RUSSIANS-AIR DEFENSES OVER HERE.
14:34:06 OH, YOU’RE KIDDING.
14:34:08 A PERSON SHOULD WARN HIM.
14:34:10 THAT’S WHY YOU SHOULD’VE GIVEN THE INFORMATION HERE,
INSTEAD OF WAITING * *

Further more shortly after at 14:35 KAL015 relayed this message from KAL007

ROGER, KOREAN AIR ZERO ONE AH FIVE, WE ARE FORWARD REPORT THAT AH
KORRAN AIR AH ZERO ZERO SEVEN THEY ARE PASSING AH NABIR AT ONE
FOUR THREE TWO, FLIGHT LEVEL THREE ONE ZERO, ESTIMATING AH NEIVA
ONE AH FIVE FOUR NINE,FUEL IS TWO ZERO ZBRO DECIMAL ZERO, MINUS
FOUR NINE, SPOT TWO FIVE ZERO DIAGONAL SIX ZERO, GO AHEAD.

Anchorage also failed to use this opportunity to get a message to KAL007 via KAL015 and warn them.

This of course directly implies Anchorage ATC was fully aware that KAL007 was entering Soviet airspace over Kamchatka however there is no evidence to suggest they made any attempt to warn KAL007. However, there is an alternative explanation to which Larry Porter hints at. (As does Michel Brun) The ‘assumption’ is that the ‘someone’ bumping into Soviet air defences is KAL007. There is no evidence of this. The ‘someone’ could also be a third party, or someone emulating KAL007. There is some evidence to support this is the reality that will be discussed elsewhere.

At 18:37:32 (the official time of KAL007 impact with the ocean) the time stamp on the Anchorage tape drops 6dB from normal level for 3 minutes. A continuous recording should not have this sudden drop. At 18:39:14 the time code reader gave erroneous indications lasting 7 seconds. Thus the critical time of KAL007’s destruction was not recorded by Anchorage tapes as they appear to have been edited. Amazingly the Narita tapes (discussed below) Lawrence received also were missing data for the same 6 1/2 minutes as the Anchorage tapes.

Larry Porter received two versions of the Narita ATC comms. One from broadcaster NHK and one official one from the Japanese government released in 1985. Surprisingly the government tape was extremely noisy compared to the NHK tape.

In addition to the last 6 1/2 minutes of KAL007’s flight ‘missing’ from this tape, Larry Porter’s interpretation of the last radio calls from KAL007 were completely different to ICAO transcript.

18:27:02 KE007 [HEY] TOKYO RADIO KOREAN AIR ZERO ZERO SEVEN

18:27:05 TOKYO KOREAN AIR ZERO ZERO SEVEN, TOKYO

18:27:10 KE007 THAT WAS KORBAN AIR ZERO ZERO SEVEN

18:27:17 REPEATING [HO – * * * LO [ST]

18:27:18 ANCHORAGE AH DYNASTY THREE ONE TWO ANCHORAGE

KE007 REPEAT CONDITIONS

[KE007] ## * GONNA BE A BLOODBATH, REAL BAD

In his recent book, “Flight of the Dove”, David Pearson had further got Larry Porter to analyse the tape and the final rendition of KAL007’s last message is:-

“First… for South Korea’s Director… zero zero seven… Ah, this is Korean Air zero zero seven… repeating… hold your bogey north… repeat conditions… gonna be a bloodbath, you bet.”

Unfortunately the Narita tapes he received terminated at 18:38…

Larry Porter also analysed the recordings of Soviet interceptors to their pilots. His analysis shows they have been complete doctored and edited, despite Jean Kirkpatrick specifically stating at the UN in front of the world that the tape recording had not been edited in anyway.
